I’m Sarah Ryan and I began my path as a doula in 2014 after having my son and realizing that having a baby is more than just ‘having a baby.’ It’s emotional ups and downs, endless options to sift through, having to make important decision with a few surprises here and there, and building your best support team to help you through it all. I was fortunate to have an amazing birth team to get me through my long labor; plus, also having support through postpartum not far from my reach. As I struggled through breastfeeding it became apparent to me that we, as new mothers, need so much during that first year as we transition into motherhood and learn to manage the demanding role. It was then I decided to dive into this field and see where it would take me.

I trained with DONA International soon after my son’s first birthday, eventually joining the organization as The DONA Ambassador for Texas where I served to guide fellow doulas down the same path. My years in this practice have also led me to additional training in acupressure for pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, belly binding, spinning babies’ techniques, placenta encapsulation, providing trauma informed care, and childbirth education. I serve by making sure you and your partner have the best birth experience, even with the surprises that pregnancy, labor, and postpartum can bring about. As a trained birth doula, my goal is to guide you in making informed decisions and support you in creating your envisioned space for your baby to be welcomed into this world.

Aside from being a birth doula, I also manage my herbalist practice in which I educate others on the use of herbs for their health. I enjoy spending my time learning about the medicinal powers of herbs, hand crafting teas, and exploring the flavors of culinary herbs. When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m either at my CrossFit gym or spending time with family on our farm.

Kind Words

  • I was attempting a VBA2C and was very nervous. Sarah was smart, professional, comforting, gentle, and knowledgeable. She helped me get through something I didn't even think I could do, which is to give birth naturally. The delivery of my daughter was the most painful. But because of how the doula helped me, her comfort and confidence and care, I never want to do it another way. She helped turn it from something frightening and seemingly impossible, into one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Thank you, Sarah!!

  • Katie was so helpful during my labor and birth that her example helped my husband to find his support role. They worked very well together to make labor as manageable as possible for me. She also took pictures during my labor and delivery that we would not have otherwise. We will cherish those precious memories!!

  • After my c-section, I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to handle a newborn, my toddler, my house and also rest. Deanna was amazing and seemed to know exactly what I needed. I couldn't have handled the first few weeks without her!
