To be a doula means to be more than a supportive hand; to be a doula means to be a calming voice, a source of rich information, and a root to a woman’s empowerment.

I’m Sarah Ryan and I found my calling as a doula through my own experiences as a mother. I always knew my purpose on this earth was to serve, but it wasn’t until the birth of my son, Austin, that I realized it was to serve women during their most vulnerable yet empowering chapter of their lives. I had an amazing support team to get me through my long labor, and even more so through my breastfeeding struggles. Since beginning my journey as a doula, I have grown more aware of the need to hold a mother’s space in the labor room. I serve by providing physical and emotional support, and most importantly, educating the partner on how remain present and supportive.

As a trained birth and postpartum doula, my goal is to guide you in making informed decisions and support you in creating a sacred space for your baby to be welcomed into this world. I also aim to provide that same support to the mother and her partner as they settle into their home with their newborn baby. In addition to completing an internationally recognized birth doula training, I have gained training in acupressure for labor to promote a natural, shorter, and positive birth experience.

Aside from being a birth doula, I also manage my herbalist practice in which I educate others on the use of herbs for their health. I spend my time learning about the medicinal powers of herbs, hand crafting teas, and exploring the flavors of culinary herbs. When I’m not in the kitchen, I enjoy taking my son with me to my CrossFit gym, where I can teach him good habits of living an active lifestyle.

  • I was attempting a VBA2C and was very nervous. Sarah was smart, professional, comforting, gentle, and knowledgeable. She helped me get through something I didn't even think I could do, which is to give birth naturally. The delivery of my daughter was the most painful. But because of how the doula helped me, her comfort and confidence and care, I never want to do it another way. She helped turn it from something frightening and seemingly impossible, into one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Thank you, Sarah!!

  • Katie was so helpful during my labor and birth that her example helped my husband to find his support role. They worked very well together to make labor as manageable as possible for me. She also took pictures during my labor and delivery that we would not have otherwise. We will cherish those precious memories!!

  • After my c-section, I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to handle a newborn, my toddler, my house and also rest. Deanna was amazing and seemed to know exactly what I needed. I couldn't have handled the first few weeks without her!
