We loved studying the Bradley Method with Jen. For most people, the idea of your first birth can be a bit scary, mainly due to the unknown. Jen is so knowledgeable and educated our group on what to expect and prepare for when waiting for your child’s BIRTHday. This class eased many of our fears. It was so valuable to understand what our bodies are capable of and that it’s all very natural. The classes with Jen were 100% worth every minute of time and money. – Whitney & Andrew M.

What is The Bradley Method®?

The Bradley Method® teaches natural childbirth and views birth as a natural process. It is our belief that most women with proper education, preparation, and the help of a loving and supportive coach can be taught to give birth naturally. The Bradley Method® is a system of natural labor techniques in which a woman and her coach play an active part. It is a simple method of increasing self-awareness, teaching a woman how to deal with the stress of labor by tuning in to her own body. The Bradley Method® encourages mothers to trust their bodies using natural breathing, relaxation, nutrition, exercise, and education.

What topics are covered in The Bradley Method® Classes?

Class topics include: nutrition and exercise for a healthy pregnancy,  pregnancy changes and natural ways to support discomforts, detailed overview of stages of labor, pushing positions and techniques, coaching a woman in labor, creating your birth plan, unexpected situations and complications, labor rehearsals, comfort techniques, breathing & relaxation techniques, breastfeeding, postpartum care, and caring for your newborn.

How long are classes and when should I start taking classes?

Most Bradley Method™ class series are 12 weeks and are designed to give both mother and coach adequate preparation time for the birth of their child, however the majority of my classes are 7 weeks covering the 12 chapter workbook. Healthy nutrition, appropriate exercise, and pregnancy information can be of benefit throughout the entire pregnancy. The earlier you start, the better prepared you’ll be physically, emotionally, and mentally. I offer unlimited classes to couples who have time for a refresher course! Sign up for one class series and attend as many classes as you’d like throughout the course of your pregnancy.

What can I expect the classes to be like?

The Bradley Method® classes are relaxed and fun! We work through the Student Workbook with group discussion, practice relaxation techniques, and rehearse labor scenarios and positions. Small groups are ideal for group discussion with a community of like-minded couples learning about pregnancy and natural childbirth.

I can’t commit to a full course or my schedule doesn’t allow me to meet on the class days, what can I do?

No worries! I have several options no matter your gestation or location, I can work with you to make sure you feel fully prepared for your birth. Contact me to learn about condensed class schedules and private courses.

What is the benefit of taking childbirth classes over several months?

Preparing for childbirth is very similar to preparing for a marathon type event. Over the course of our childbirth classes, you will feel confident in your ability to give birth through weekly education, relaxation practice, and pregnancy exercises. We work to prepare your mind and body for childbirth with mental, physical, and emotional relaxation practices along with a curriculum that covers pregnancy and gestation, nutrition and exercise, stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, creating a birth plan, postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding. The more educated you are about your birth and your options, and the more you prepare for childbirth, the more likely you are to have a joyful and positive birth experience.
